Pastoral Letter on update
of Archdiocesan Protocols and lifting of liturgical restrictions
(Click here for a PDF copy of this letter and the protocols)
Dear Catholic Faithful of Guam,
With thanksgiving to God, we are pleased to present the latest update to our Archdiocesan Protocols regarding liturgical practices of our Church. In addition to restrictions already previously lifted, this update developed by our Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission (ALC) includes further action which essentially returns our Archdiocese to normal, pre-pandemic standards.
Along with resumption of regular liturgical practices for the sacraments of Reconciliation (Confession), Confirmation, Holy Communion, and Holy Matrimony, the update also reinstates Wake Services for the viewing and paying of respects inside churches as we honor our deceased loved ones.
Thank you to our Faithful for your support and steadfast adherence to the liturgical protocols that helped keep our community safe these past two years. We ask everyone to please abide by the notations stated in the protocols as well as those communicated by your respective parish priests and parish office staff.
While these protocols signal a return to pre-pandemic standards for the most part, please also continue to practice diligence regarding health practices and note the safeguards that remain in effect or are highly encouraged.
I thank ALC Chairman Father Paul Gofigan and all members of the commission for their hard work in this area.
The love of Jesus Christ be with you,
/s/Father Romeo D. Convocar
Archdiocese of Agaña, Vicar General
