May the peace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ be with you. I write this letter to remind all faithful of a standing directive related to the Neocatechumenal Way. On March 15, 2017, Archbishop Michael Byrnes instructed the lead catechists of the Neocatechumenal Way in Guam to put a “pause” on the formation of new communities. The directive was issued in both a long form letter (Protocol No. 2017-074) which was disseminated to all clergy and a short form letter (Protocol No. 2017-075) read at Masses throughout our churches. Additionally, during his term here as Episcopal Vicar, Father Ron Richards communicated a message by the archbishop that the moratorium remained in effect. He did so in a letter (Protocol No. 2021-064) written to the Itinerant Catechist Team of the Neocatechumenal Way on August 18, 2021. Copies of all three letters accompany this memorandum.
